"Color Blocking"

Although color blocking is definitely not a new trend, it's back this year with even more dramatic colors in the home and in fashion. Clashing and contrasting, yet surprisingly complementary and contemporary, color blocking is all over the fashion world this Spring and is all about pairing opposing colors together to create a bold statement.

Matching up colors that don't match can act as a fun way to bring energy to a room. For a dramatic color-blocking makeover in any space, a great method is to paint a three-color combination of bright, solid shapes (rectangles and squares work best) on the wall or even just coordinate contrasting pillows on a neutral couch. The trick is to pick up three contrasting colors for an ideal combination.

*navy blue, hot pink, ivory

*brown, rose, peach

*sapphire blue, gold, tangerine

*salmon pink, charcoal, white

*violet, blue, turquoise

From solid prints grouped together to upholstered headboards paired with contrasting colors of pillows, color blocking provides many new options within the home. So try a little experimenting and give a new look to your room.
