"Color Blocking"

Although color blocking is definitely not a new trend, it's back this year with even more dramatic colors in the home and in fashion. Clashing and contrasting, yet surprisingly complementary and contemporary, color blocking is all over the fashion world this Spring and is all about pairing opposing colors together to create a bold statement.

Matching up colors that don't match can act as a fun way to bring energy to a room. For a dramatic color-blocking makeover in any space, a great method is to paint a three-color combination of bright, solid shapes (rectangles and squares work best) on the wall or even just coordinate contrasting pillows on a neutral couch. The trick is to pick up three contrasting colors for an ideal combination.

*navy blue, hot pink, ivory

*brown, rose, peach

*sapphire blue, gold, tangerine

*salmon pink, charcoal, white

*violet, blue, turquoise

From solid prints grouped together to upholstered headboards paired with contrasting colors of pillows, color blocking provides many new options within the home. So try a little experimenting and give a new look to your room.

"Hoppin Down The Bunny Trail"

Easter is just around the corner and my Hermann Team has been busy helping our customers put together some fantastic places settings for their Easter brunch. Here are a few of their great creations, I hope it will inspire you.

Even using paper plates can make a cheery setting like this one did for Easter.

An orange crocodile desk tray is the unique charger for this colorful Easter table setting. A paisley yellow runner & napkin add splashes of color. Bunnies and a canvas egg complete the look.

Place settings can be as simple or as complex as your mood. Spring florals mixed with casafina dinnerware. Quirky glitter eggs sit upon shredded pink paper, or simply go back to nature. Burlap placemats, casafina dishes mixed with a metal bird nest and robin eggs, burlap carrot and succulents. No matter what you choose ideas are just a mood away.
This burlap bunny will help set the mood as your family and guests arrive.
Let you inner creativity shine with beautiful placemats and pretty glass eggs for a unique Easter gathering in your home or garden.

Add these cute little bunnies to any display in your home this Easter.
A vintage bunny in a pedestal cloche presedes over a place setting of pebbled dishes on a rattan charger. Casafina stemware, azelia blue napkins and placemat and a bird nest finish the setting.

For a little suprise to the table add a basket full of flowers to each chair to make every guest feel welcome.

Easter is almost here, so stop in soon and let our Hermann Team help you make this Easter perfect.

"Fake It A Little"

It was once thought the height of tackiness to use fake flowers in your home. But that was before faux foliage got so incredibly lifelike. Now, I can't imagine not using fake greens and flowers in my seasonal decorating. For a simple yet dramatic look in your entry, porch or dining room table, fill a tall urn, ginger jar or olive vessel with an arrangement of real fallen twigs and artificial spring branches like dogwoods, forsythia, cherry blossoms or lemon leaves.

For more great ideas stop in and visit our store. We can help you create a wonderful arrangement with our container or yours. We can even just freshen up a floral arrangement. We look forward to seeing you!

" The New Hot Color For Spring "

This hot new color is Tangerine Tango, a lively, bright shade of orange. Tangerine and orange are colors that really stand out, even at a distance. Tangerine is a zesty red-orangey color that attracts a lot of attention. It is a mixture between orange and yellow and looks best when paired with black and darker shades of blue or with white, off-white and lighter neutral colors. If you want to spice things up then go with citrus hues and get a smashing tropical flavor in your room.

Here we have paired Tangerine Tango with a lovely shade of blue.
Tangerine Tango adds a "dynamic burst of energy" to the home if used sparingly in home accessories such as in pillows, bedspreads, and art. Or, perhaps it can be painted on one wall of a room or used in a small room with tangerine as a background in a dramatic wallpaper.

Orange signals not only vitality, but also urgency and strength. Orange or tangerine gives us an uplifting feeling and encourages us to be hopeful.
Picture your room with more vibrancy. Could you include tangerine in your life? Have you ever accessorized your outfits with this color? This hue is a most flattering color. Consider a lamp base in this color with a white linen shade or some tangerine in a pillow with a white background and greenery.
While most of us would not even consider painting an entire room in an orange shade, the vibrancy that this color exudes may be a possibility in smaller doses. This color stimulates activity, stimulates appetites and encourages socialization. It makes us feel alive. When we feel good, we love life, love people and love just about everything we do. Why not bring this vibrant color into our homes?
For those of us who fear color, tangerine would be an ideal color for a throw pillow or blanket to liven up a living space, or to energize a room as an accent wall. The hope is that with this vibrant color in our homes we will somehow become happy and excited to live in interesting rooms.

So while we patiently wait for spring, liven up a room in your home with this bold and beautiful color. It will make waiting for the next season much more fun!
